EPA Awards grant to Earth Conservancy for brownfield site revitalization
Earth Conservancy, a Pennsylvania non-profit organization, will receive $600,000 from the EPA to clean up parcels of land in Hanover Township and a segment of the Espy Run stream in Nanticoke in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Historic anthracite mining activity and coal waste disposal scarred the area and left significant acid mine drainage issues. Earth Conservancy is one of 172 communities and organizations selected by the EPA to receive funding for brownfield site revitalization this year.
