EPA announces remediation plan for Matteo Superfund Site
The EPA has announced a $72 million remediation plan for part of the Matteo & Sons, Inc. Superfund site in West Deptford, NJ. The 82.5 acre site was a privately owned unregistered landfill, and has caused contamination of lead and other harmful substances into the soil and groundwater. The remediation plan is slated to take approximately three years and includes removal of “the main source of contamination within the Matteo site to address the potential exposure pathways.”
